100 Teachers Receive Training On AI in Ebonyi Courtesy of U.S AEIF

…Express Gratitude: Call for Assistance

In an effort to contribute to a better teaching experience, the United States Government through Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) has built the capacity of 100 secondary schools teachers on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in carrying out their responsibilities.

Declaring open the 4-day training in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, the state Commissioner for Education (primary and secondary schools), Prof. Paul Awo Nwobasi acknowledged the fact that globally things are fast evolving due to advancement in technology. He noted that the initiative would help to revolutionize teaching and learning in the state.

Prof Nwobasi reiterated that the state government placed a premium on education as it leads in its “people’s charter of needs agenda” and charged the participants to go beyond having modern gadgets and acclimatized to them in order to effectively deploy the knowledge acquired.

The project being implemented in two states of Kebbi and Ebonyi by the United States government, ExchangeAlumni is aimed at repositioning teachers for better service delivery.

Speaking further, the project lead, Adanma Odefa said the training is not a one off exercise as modalities were already in place for the beneficiaries to interface with their counterparts in Kebbi state in terms of knowledge sharing.

She also charged them to utilize the opportunity of the workshop to strengthen their capacity in order not to be left behind in the fast changing world.

Some of the participants including Mr Emmanuel N.Chukwu and Mrs Ugonma Amechi expressed gratitude to the facilitators stressing that the knowledge acquired would help close the gap already existing between teachers and their students who are more attuned to internet services.

They however, solicited assistance from the implementer of the project and the state government in the area of providing teachers with smart phones and schools with computer laboratories for effective and efficient utilisation of the knowledge acquired.
