Abia APC Advises Residents To Shun Protest; lauds President Tinubu

…Lifts Suspension placed On Members

The Abia State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has commended president Bola Tinubu for addressing the challenges of Ndigbo and advised the residents of the state to steer clear of the proposed nationwide protest billed to commence on 1st August, 2024.

The state chairman of the party, Dr Kingsley Ononogbu made the pronouncement through a communique he read during their Caucus/Stakeholders Meeting on Saturday in Umuahia.

Appreciating President Tinubu for assenting to the South East Development Commission bill, Dr Ononogbu lifted the suspension placed on some members and called for the withdrawal of all pending legal matters against the party stressing that the moves were calculated and strategic in winning future elections in the state.

At the Party Secretariat in Umuahia, the chairman reinstated efforts towards rebuilding the party with a call on everyone to eschew bitterness and embrace team spirit.

The communiqué reads thus;

“That henceforth, Caucus members, Stakeholders, Leaders and indeed, members of the party in Abia State will work together to ensure a more inclusive, United and formidable APC.

“That Members are enjoined to forgive one another, eschew bitterness, embrace team spirit and avoid distractions in order to focus on the goal of re- building our party from Pooling Units, Wards, LGAs, Senatorial Zones, to State. Stakeholders should be indeed Stakeholders of the party in truth and spirit.

“Caucus/Stakeholders reviewed the cases of members of the party who were suspended in 2022 and 2023 and thereafter magnanimously lifted the suspensions. Caucus / Stakeholders further mandated all members who instituted cases in the court or police against the Party to withdraw same forthwith.

“Caucus/Stakeholders mandated the State Working Committee (SWC) to compile a list of every member of the party who is holding an elective position or appointed position and suggest what financial contribution each of them will make monthly for the operations of the party in the State.

“That new members who qualify to attend Caucus/Stakeholders meeting should endeavor to register their membership in their respective Wards and subsequently identify with their LGAs and State executives for relevance and recognition purposes.

“Caucus/ Stakeholders commended and thanked the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for giving the people of South East, the South East Development Commission by signing the bill into law.

“Caucus / Stakeholders enjoined the youths of Abia and indeed all residents of to stay away from the planned nation wide protests as their concerns are already being addressed by the President”.

Present at the meeting were the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Benjamin Kalu, Party’s Governorship Candidate in 2023 Elections, Chief Ikechi Emenike, Member representing South East in the North East Development Commission, Rep Sam Onuigbo, among others.
