In line with the core mandate of securing critical national assets and infrastructure, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia State Command, Usman Ishaq Alfadarai has arrested and paraded three suspects who deal on rail parts in the Aba North area of the state.

Parading the criminal syndicate for illegal trading on items suspected to be railway components, Commandant Alfadarai said investigations are underway to identify and apprehend all individuals linked to the crime. He described the act as a grievous threat to the nation’s economy stressing that the corps would keep vandalism at bay in the state.

The NSCDC Boss in Abia State further reiterated their combat readiness to stem the tides of all forms of vandalism and acts of economic sabotage to ensure a safer, more secured state.

The Commandant speech which is contained in a press release signed by the ASCII Doreen Udugwu revealed that items recovered include large quantities of rail line slippers and tracks, in various stages of processing.

“In alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the directives of the Commandant-General, Associate Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to stem the tides of all forms of vandalism and acts of economic sabotage in the country, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia State Command, has successfully dismantled yet another syndicate involved in the illicit trade of scrap metals suspected to be sourced from vandalized rail lines across the country.

“Operating an illegal factory located at the 2nd power line by Ogbosisi Uratta in Aba, Abia State, the syndicate was uncovered during a raid conducted by NSCDC personnel. Large quantities of rail line slippers and tracks, in various stages of processing, were seized during the operation, with the intention of being transported to llorin, Kwara State.

He also disclosed that further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in this criminal enterprise, which poses a serious threat to the nation’s economy.

“The NSCDC reaffirms its commitment to rooting out criminal elements from Abia State and beyond. Criminals operating within the state are urged by the Commandant to desist from illegal activities or face the full wrath of the law.
He said the NSCDC will spare no effort in ensuring that Abia State remains safe and secure for all law-abiding citizens.
In the end, he called upon the public to collaborate with the NSCDC by providing credible intelligence that can aid in the apprehension of criminals.
