Abia NSCDC Ready to Curb Vandalism of Electrical Installations in the state

The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abia State Command, Commandant Usman Ishaq Alfadarai has promised to work hands in gloves with the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to address the issues of vandalism of electrical installations in the state.

The state commandant made the promise when the management of EEDC paid him a familiarization visit in his office in Umuahia.

While receiving the team, Commandant Alfadarai reiterated that the corps was committed to protecting the nation’s critical infrastructure and described vandalism as a big menace in the society which must be brought to its knees through dedication, constant surveillance and effect collaboration among critical stakeholders.

Earlier, the Business Manager of EEDC, Festus Chibueze Iwuala who lamented the spate of vandalism at their various electricity distribution stations across the state expressed confidence in the professional ability of the command to not only arrest the situation but also apprehend the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

“The State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abia State Command, Commandant Usman Ishaq Alfadarai welcomed the District Business Manager of Enugu Electrical Distribution Company (EEDC) and his entourage at the Command’s Headquarters in Umuahia.

“The visit focused on familiarization and exploring ways to collaborate to end the vandalism of electrical distribution infrastructure in Abia state.

“During the meeting, the Business Manager of EEDC discussed the vandalism that has been occurring in the various electricity distribution stations across the state. He expressed his belief that NSCDC has the capability to not only provide solutions to this problem but also apprehend the perpetrators of these criminal acts.

“While responding to the visitors, the Commandant expressed his appreciation for the visit and recapitulated NSCDC’s commitment to protecting the nation’s critical infrastructure. He frowned at the vandalism of electrical distribution infrastructures and said it is a big menace to the society.

“He however, assured the visitors that NSCDC will do their best to protect these infrastructures.

“During the courtesy visit, the State Commandant was accompanied by some very senior officers of the Corps”.
