…Wants South East Governors to Exempt Exporters from Taxation
The Chief Executive Officer, Denca Global Courier Services Ltd, (DGC Express), Dr Onyinye Queen Okpa says involvement of stakeholders in harnessing, and growing the potentials inherent in the nation’s creative industry would bring about massive economic rebirth.
Dr Okpa made the call during an Export Business Roundtable put together by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council in collaboration with her firm to enlighten participants from the South East on export business in Enugu State.
According to the CEO of DGC Express, the essence of the 4 day program was to expose the participants on export business starting from farming, processing, packaging and the penultimate goal of earning in dollars without hitches.
Among other impediments facing the entrepreneurs, Dr Okpa called on the South East Governors to desist from taxing business men and women in the creative industry as they are contributing to economic advancement and prosperity by creating employment opportunities, increasing par capital income and tackling insecurity.
She explained the secret of earning foreign currency through conservative farming which reduces the carbon credit in agricultural produce thereby certifying them healthier for human consumption.
The CEO of the courier and logistics firm, Dr Onyinye Queen Okpa revealed that she has an Export Consulting company stressing that exporters should leverage on the veritable window to grow their business.
“At this point everybody knows that there is need for all of us to get into export of non oil products because that is the only way out of this nation. Already our import is already too high. Now we need to balance our trade by doing more of export. We are here to tell people that cottage industries can help. If everyone is doing something to grow the value chain, the better for all of us. If we don’t come together in our own little ways, from the farm, to the person processing, packaging and export we will just be wasting our time.
“The essence is for the people in the South East region. Any company that is doing export is not supposed to be asked hence it is helping the economy. The issue of taxing them doesn’t make sense because exporters are helping the economy. I am pleading with all the Governors in the South East to exempt Exporters from the tax bracket.
“We have an NPA licensed export terminal and we want people to leverage on the multi billion project to export their product.
“We want end-to-end partners from farm, solid mineral to the moment the end their dollars.
“We an Export Consulting company, Export Logistics company. Everything we are doing is to help export non oil products, commodities, services”.
