Easter Celebration: Ebonyi Deputy Speaker Brings Succour To Indigents

In the spirit of the Easter festival, the Deputy Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Mr Chinedu Onah has distributed relief materials worth millions of naira to indigents in Ohaukwu local government area.

Mr Onah who is representing the people of Ohaukwu South State Constituency in the state assembly explained that the program which afforded women the opportunity to be enrolled into the free Ebonyi State Health Insurance Scheme was party of his efforts to better lots of his people.

While appreciating the state governor, Right Honourable Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and wife for impacting positively on Ebonyians, the lawmaker also distributed wrappers, home items and undisclosed amount of money to the beneficiaries.

“I am doing all these sacrificially to better the lives of my constituents and also in the spirit of Easter. It is the love I have for God and my constituents that is making me to do all these,” Onah said.

“Through the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus on the cross of Calvary, He made the greatest accomplishment that brought salvation to man and reconciling humanity with God. It is on the basis of that reconciliation that I in attempt to trace my mission on earth have resolved to be organising party for the widows of my constituency on annual basis”

The widows’ party which comes under the auspices of Ojichiaga Foundation is part of our encouragement to the widows of Ohaukwu South State Constituency who are also an integral part of our electorates. This year, we have decided as usual to extend the gesture to other areas outside our immediate constituency to accommodate others from across all the nooks and cranny of Ohaukwu Local Government area. This we are doing as part of our appreciation to God for the enlargement of our coast”

“The scope of this years’ event is more widened as we are partnering Better Health for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced (BERWO) to flag off the Rural Women Health Scheme Enrolment Programme. I therefore most respectfully commend and appreciate Your Excellency’s exemplary steps for championing the course of the less privileged, the children and the vulnerable through the instrumentality of BERWO and to assure you that we have been motivated to replicate the charitable gestures in the hinterland through our partnership”

“Your Excellency have through this your pet programme touched lives and liberated many families from shackles of poverty and lack to the state of comfort and abundance. Our aim is to key into that ideology of touching lives and giving arms to the needy.”

The representative of the wife of the State Governor, Dr Mrs Nkechi Echiegu thanked the Deputy Speaker for his legislative prowess and love for his people.

The Member representing Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze expressed gratitude over the kind gestures of the Deputy Speaker.

Some of the beneficiaries including Virginia Okwo and Mrs Felicia Ezeome on behalf of the 200 others appreciated their benefactor and prayed for God’s continuous blessings upon his family.

Note: Ohaukwu local government area has two state constituencies.
