Ebonyi Civil Servants To Receive N70,000 minimum wage Says Governor Nwifuru

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru says civil servants under the state payroll will be paid N70,000 minimum wage effective from September this year.

Governor Nwifuru, who made the announcement on Saturday at the grand finale of the Ojiji Izhi New Yam Festival 2024, said he has directed relevant government authorities to draft modalities for the payment of the new minimum wage by next month.

By this pronouncement Governor Nwifuru has joined the other few governors who agreed to implement the labour unions/federal government round table accord.

Recall that labour unions earlier in the year reached an agreement with the federal government that the least worker in Nigeria must receive a minimum of N70,000 monthly as a take home package.

This was part of the measures the federal government adopted to cushion the economic hardship brought by fuel subsidy removal on the Nigerian workers among other citizens.
