The wife of Ebonyi state governor Chief Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru has launched her pet project, codenamed Better Health for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Persons Foundation (BERWO) in Ivo local government area of the state.
Inaugurating the program the first lady Mrs. Nwifuru explained that the foundation was born out of the desire to make a positive impact by uplifting lives of the less privileged w create a better world for future generations.
Earlier Mrs Nwifuru commissioned EB-CSDA Assisted Community Micro Projects, BERWO Health Centre and borehole at the local government area as testament to the commitment of the present administration to improving the quality of lives of indigenes.
She however, commended the Ivo Council boss and advised against vandalism of the projects.
The chairman, Ivo local government area, Mr. Emmanuel Ajah and the coordinator Akaeze Development centre, Mr. Chinasa Okorie appreciated Mrs Nwifuru for investing rightly on projects that have direct impact on the people stressing that present administration in the state has brought so much peace in the area.
The team lead BERWO, Mrs. Nkechi Echiegu and the chairperson Ivo local
government Council, Mrs. Chinyere Okoro thanked Mrs Nwifuru for using her foundation to improve the education and empowerment of women for a sustainable livelihood.
The wife of the Governor, Mrs Uzoamaka Mary-Maudline Ogbonna Nwifuru received a Chieftaincy title of Ugegbe I of Ivo local government area from Ivo traditional
rulers due to her efforts in salvaging the plights of the downtrodden.
BERWO Foundation was launched on November 15th, 2023 by wife of the governor, Mrs. Chief Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru to alleviate the plight of the downtrodden, create awareness to end Gender Based violence and encourage second chance education for Ebonyi people. The foundation serves as a pillar of support and beacon of hope for those in need.
