EBSIEC Issues Certificates of Return to Council Leaders Elect

The Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission, (EBSIEC) has issued certificates of return to the 13 council Chairmen and 171 councillors elect in the just conducted council polls is the state.

The chairman of the commission, Justice Jossey Eze made the presentation with a charge for the leaders to exhibit humility and run an open policy for the development of their council areas.

Speaking in Abakaliki during the issuance of the document, Justice Eze appreciated the state governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for providing the enabling environment which helped in the peaceful conduct of the elections stressing that the exercise would stand the test of time.

While speaking on the recent supreme court ruling on the local government autonomy, the chairman said the new crop of leaders have an edge over their counterparts in parts of the country because the administration of Governor Nwifuru has from inception implemented the document stressing the need for collaboration.

He also charged them to hit the tray with developmental activities and also extend the oliver branch to their opponents in the polls because the philosophy of winner takes it all would not represent the leadership approach of the present administration in the state.

The incumbent and chairman elect of Ezza North local government area Chief Moses Ogodo-Ali Nomeh thanked Governor Nwifuru and electoral umpire for their diverse roles and promised to be committed to building a virile society where life would be treasured and enjoyable.

However, the All Progressives Congress APC, clinched all the positions contested for during the elections.
