I Will Not Contest Election in 2027 Says Former Minister, Dr. Ogah
….Abia APC Needs Stakeholders To Work In Unity
The former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development and stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Uchechukwu Ogah says on Saturday that he would not contest election in 2027.
Dr Oga stated this during a crucial meeting with stakeholders of the party in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
The party juggernaut and entrepreneur, Dr Ogah who cited lack of peace and sincerity of purpose among the leaders as a major bane to the party’s electoral victory chronicled how he was at the supreme court a day before the 2019 governorship election he participated.
He added that the inability of the party to rule the state stems from the fact that there is absence of unity which incubates unnecessary squabbles among its critical stakeholders. The former Minister however laid emphasis on the urgent need for the party’s faithful to build a stronger synergy and jettison differences in order to chat a more formidable front in future.
“I was not a member of APC when I was appointed as a minister under President Muhammadu Buhari. I joined APC in 2017”
“I cannot work with people who cannot say yes and stand by it. We have poisonous people in the party. I cannot deceive anyone.
“In 2019, i told people if they cannot vote for President Buhari they should not vote for me because you cannot hate my father and love me.
“As you see me, I have never gone to any leader of the party to say anything against anybody. When people ask me, I just keep quiet. I went for the meeting in Owerri because the Governor called me and I told him come and reconcile Abia State APC. I will not be contesting in 2027.
“It is only when we get to government house that everybody will benefit. In 2019, a day to the election I was at the supreme court even the people that wanted to support didn’t know who was the candidate. There were confusion everywhere and somebody said that I should go and talk to someone who never told me that he was contesting.
“I can never disregard any leader. We have leaders in the party but they have chosen not to be together.
“I can tell you free of charge that what we need in APC is peace and sincerity of purpose. What has held this party down is the insincerity of most of her leaders”.
Some stakeholders present at the meeting including, the member representing Umuahia North in Abia State House of Assembly), Hon.Barr. Anderson Akaliro factional state Chairman of APC, Hon Goldie wabara and State public Secretary Hon. Offor Okorie, some candidates of the party in the 2023 general elections, local government and ward executives, among others.
