Legislators Laud Governor Nwifuru As BiLL On Correctional Service Passes 3rd Reading
Members of Ebonyi State House of Assembly have commended Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for prioritizing the interest of the people in his programs and policies.
The commendations came to the fore when the bill for the establishment and regulation of Ebonyi State Correctional Service has passed third reading during plenary in the State House of Assembly.
At the legislative complex Nkaliki, Abakaliki, the state capital, the speaker of the House, Rt Hon Chief Moses Ije Odunwa said the bill when passed into law would ensure effective and efficient management of inmates, better reformation and rehabilitation as well as reintegration for public safety in the larger society.
The Speaker, Odunwa re-emphasized that the bill is in tandem with the Governor Nwifuru’s People’s Charter of Needs agenda which placed high premium on the welfare and core needs of the people.
He further expressed happiness over the speedy passage of the document stressing that it would help to rehabilitate convicts who turned a new leaf for a better society.
Meanwhile, the Leader of the House Hon Chief Kingsley Ikoro said the bill provided for the administration of custodial and non-custodial services in the State.
Other members who spoke in favour of the bill include; RT Hon Arinze Lucas Chukwu representing Ishielu South , Chief Onyebuchi Ogbadu of Ivo state constituency, and their Ezza South State Constituency counterpart, Hon Friday Ogbuewu.
