…Gov Nwifuru thanks President on Trans Sharan Trade Route passing through Ebonyi State

The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi has advised the people of South East not to embark on any form of demonstration against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because he is working tirelessly to ameliorate the sufferings of the people.

Umahi gave the piece of advice during a stakeholders Engagement and unveiling of the proposed Trans Sharan Trade route in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.

The Minister who appreciated Governor Nwifuru for accepting to pay full compensation to those whose source of livelihood would be affected said the project would pass through Enugu, Abakaliki, Ogoja to Cameron.

He further noted that the project referred to as the third legacy project of president Tinubu would not only open up the entire region to huge economic benefits but would also ease the burden of transport adding that the present administration is in a hurry to develop the road infrastructure in the country.

“We inherited an administration that’s struggling and this didn’t start in the last eight years.

“Let me assure you that Mr President is making everything possible to ameliorate what every that seems like the hardship we are experiencing. It is a hardship of a newness, a new birth of our nation Nigeria. I want us to pray and support for Mr President.

“He is doing everything to unite Nigeria. He is doing everything to put food on our table. He is doing everything to develop our roads, education, health, and so many things are being done. And want South East people and Ebonyi State in particular to please stand with Mr President. I am happy that our Governor had already spoken to our people. No form Of demonstration against Mr President will take place in Ebonyi State And South East.

“And want South East and Ebonyi State in particular to please stand with Mr President. We will not do that. You are all aware that before now we almost had no road network in the entire south east. That is a pitiable situation. But today under President Tinubu, there is no state that is not experiencing road infrastructure development. Without prejudice it is very difficult funding mechanisms born out of years of neglect and very difficult economy inherited by Mr President.

“We call for patience, perseverance and partnership(Ppp). This is a divine President . He is a man of courage with great experience needed at a challenging time like this.

“He is very happy with the unity in Ebonyi State and what the south East governance is doing to enlighten our people and to bring to play politics at the centre. South East people should know that under Mr President we no longer witness incessant raping of our women in farms and killing our people what the people are what we are experiencing self inflicted and I commend the governors for their efforts.

“Ebonyi State in particular there is no sit at home on Monday. It is a very terrible economic sabotage for south East people that are very Mobile and industrious and commercial in nature. So we have to do everything in sE to overcome it because it self inflicted injuries and we have done everything to realise that.

“Let me on behalf of Mr President unveiled the 3rd legacy projects of Mr President that is the trans Sharan Trade route. There are a lot of inherited projects that Mr President has not dropped but the challenging finances has made it that we are going to prioritize a number of projects and choose the ones we can complete as quickly as possible and also commence other ones.

“It will be impossible to carry on with over 2,600 inherited projects and with the cost of building materials and so people should realise that it is through the magnanimity of Mr President apart from over 330 emergency projects that he inherited some of them up to 1.5b which it’s completion at over 95%. These legacy projects are not just road but investment.

“This is a coastal roads with a lot of economic corridors. Those who are fanning the embers of division in this country or thinking they scuttle the 8years of Mr President are wasting time time. He has a minimum of two tenures of 8years.

“We did not destroy any tourism site but shanties. We are going to develop tourism, factories, industries etc. Enugu, Abakaliki , Ogoja to Cameron”.

Meanwhile the Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru appreciated the inclusion of the state in the federal government’s 477km road stressing that his administration recognised the crucial role infrastructure play in enhancing the quality of life hence it came second in the 2024 budget.

Describing the proposed Trans Sharan Trade route as a signature project, Governor Nwifuru thanked president Tinubu and the minister for efforts to develop the country especially the agrarian state.
