South East Empties Into APC, As President Tinubu Returns Come 2027
The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it is strategically ready to win governorship elections in the remaining South East states of Abia, Anambra and Enugu adding that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would be re-elected come 2027.
This was the summary of speeches made during the party’s South East zonal stakeholders meeting which took place at the Christian Ecumenical Centre in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.
The APC National Vice Chairman, South East, Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu who noted that South East must contribute equitably in order to connect to the power at the centre to savour the nation’s huge resources, appreciated Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru whose developmental gains and peaceful nature led to the mass exodus of big wigs and thousands of their loyalists from other political parties such as the PDP, Labour party and APGA into APC.
He further urged states where the party did not have a strong hold to bury their differences and work in unity to scoop required votes to take over the seat of power and also end marginalisation in the zone.
Dr. Arodiogbu emphasised that Ebonyi and Imo States are APC states because juggernauts like the former Senate president, Sen Anyim Pius Anyim among others had dumped their parties in favour of the APC.
In his remarks, the Ebonyi state governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru explained that his party is a movement for actualising the wishes of the people stressing that his administration is committed to upholding the principles of social and liberal democracy.
He further said the party is open to admit every interested person but at the time would not allow detractors to invade and cause disunity in the state.
Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the party, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje said the South East zone performed poorly during the presidential election that produced Bola Ahmed Tinubu and urged them to work harder through determination, cohesion and unity among themselves to fully earn thier place in national politics.
Dr. Ganduje who announced that the party would soon commence electronic registration, encouraged them to seize the opportunity and enroll enmass to fill the perceived laspes in their voting strength which has been the bone of contention in terms of distributing the nations resources.
