Ebonyi APC Returns Emegha, 35 Others Unopposed at State Congress
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State has re-elected Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha as Chairman alongside 35 other State Working Committee (SWC) members for another four-year term.
The congress, held Tuesday at the PA Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki, saw the officials returned unopposed through a consensus arrangement in line with party guidelines.
Hon. Chinedu Alphonsus Nwali was re-elected as Deputy Chairman, while Chief Charles Chukwuma Ofoke retained his position as State Secretary. The consensus motion was moved by Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi, representing Ebonyi North and Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, and seconded by the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa.
Addressing party faithful, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for strengthening and stabilising the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. He commended party stakeholders for reaffirming their confidence in the Emegha-led executive and assured opposition parties of a level playing field, urging campaigns rooted in civility when the time comes.
The governor also appreciated Ebonyi lawmakers at both state and national levels for aligning with the APC, noting that all members from the state now belong to the ruling party.
In his acceptance speech, Emegha thanked Governor Nwifuru and party stakeholders for the renewed mandate, pledging loyalty and commitment to advancing the party’s interests in the state.
Chairperson of the APC Electoral Committee and former Anambra Speaker, Rt. Hon. Rita Maduagwu, affirmed that the consensus process complied with the party’s constitution and guidelines. She congratulated the re-elected officials and encouraged them to work towards consolidating the party’s strength ahead of 2027.
The event was attended by top party leaders, including the Deputy Governor, Princess Onyemaechi Obila, Senators Ken Eze and Okorie Ani, members of the House of Representatives, and other prominent stakeholders.
