A dark cloud has settled over Alor community in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State following the gruesome death of a 23-year-old nursing student.

The tragic incident, which has left residents and fellow students in shock, has sparked a full-scale police investigation, with the victim’s landlord detained for questioning as detectives intensify efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding her death.

The spokesperson of Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered an accelerated and thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.

According to police, the victim’s lifeless body was discovered on June 14 inside the compound where she lived as a tenant. Detectives who visited the scene reportedly found a deep cut on her thigh, other marks of violence, and blood stains around the premises, suggesting foul play.

Preliminary investigations identified the deceased as a student of the College of Nursing Sciences, Alor, a development that has further heightened public concern over the shocking incident.

In a bid to unravel the mystery, the case has been transferred from the Nnobi Divisional Police Headquarters to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for a comprehensive and discreet investigation.

The deceased’s body has been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while the Commissioner of Police assured that no stone would be left unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

As the investigation continues, residents of Alor and the wider Anambra community await answers over the tragic loss of a young woman whose life and promising nursing career were cut short.
