Leaders Advocate Peace, Unity at Eid-el-Fitr Celebration in Enugu

…..Sarki Sambo, Commissioner of Police, Oba Abdulazeez, Dr. Ndu, Dr Ogbobe others mark end of Ramadan

Prominent leaders in Enugu State have called for sustained peace, unity, and progress as Muslims joined the global community to celebrate the end of Ramadan at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

The gathering, which marked the Eid-el-Fitr prayers, drew dignitaries from across religious and ethnic divides, all emphasizing the need for harmony and collective development in the state.

Speaking at the event, Abubakar Yusuf Sambo, the Sarki Hausawan of Enugu State and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, congratulated Muslims and the government of Enugu State on the successful completion of Ramadan. He commended the administration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for its developmental strides and urged the Muslim Ummah to remain law abiding while upholding the virtues of discipline, sacrifice, and tolerance imbibed during the holy month, which coincided with the Christian Lenten season.

In his goodwill message, the commissioner of police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa noted that Enugu State has experienced relative peace over the past one year despite prevailing security challenges in parts of the country. He called on residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible information to safeguard lives and property.

Also speaking, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Projects Development Institute (PRODA), Dr. Peter Ogbobe, alongside the Executive Chairman of Ezeagu Local Government Area, Dr. Vitalis Ndu, and the Oba of the Yoruba community in Enugu State, Abdulazeez Adebayo Olateju Olorumoba I, urged residents to sustain the spirit of peace and unity.

 

They emphasized that continued cooperation among citizens remains vital to achieving the developmental goals of the state government, while extending warm Eid-el-Fitr greetings to Muslims and the entire people of Enugu State.

The leaders collectively called on Ndi Enugu to rally behind the present administration both at the State and federal levels to consolidate on existing gains and foster greater progress across the state.
