The Ebonyi State Government has dismissed reports alleging that it engaged a Chinese construction company to take over and demolish the Vanco Flyover and Tunnel Project in Abakaliki.
In a statement issued by the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Onwe Emmanuel Onwe, the government described the claims as false, misleading and aimed at misinforming the public.
The ministry denied reports that a Chinese firm inspected the project and recommended its demolition over alleged structural defects, stressing that no such recommendation was made.
It maintained that decisions on public infrastructure projects are guided by professional engineering assessments and due process, not social media speculation.
The government also rejected allegations relating to project costs, contracts and kickbacks, describing them as baseless and unsupported by facts.
Reaffirming its commitment to the project, the ministry said the Vanco Flyover and Tunnel remains a key infrastructure initiative aimed at improving traffic flow, addressing flooding and boosting economic activities in the state.
It urged residents to disregard the reports and rely on official channels for information on government projects.
