Massive investments in road infrastructure, education, healthcare, housing, industrialization, workers’ welfare, agriculture, security and youth empowerment have earned Governor Francis Nwifuru the unanimous endorsement of the people of Ishielu Local Government Area for a second term in office.
The endorsement came on Wednesday during a rally at the Ishielu Local Government Headquarters, where political leaders, government officials, members of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, APC stakeholders, women and youth groups declared that the governor’s People’s Charter of Needs agenda had delivered visible dividends of democracy across the area and the state.
Chairman of Ishielu Local Government Area, Mrs. Ifeoma Peace Agwu, said the administration’s performance had transformed governance and improved the quality of life of the people through strategic development projects. She listed some of the projects to include the 23-kilometre Ezilo–Ihuolu/Ezza-Ezilo Road, the proposed Nkalagu Hatchery, a 144-unit housing estate for the resettlement of Amaeze and Iso communities, and the construction of 22 classroom blocks in Ntezi, Agba and Ezilo.
Former Senator Obinna Ogba and other stakeholders said Governor Francis Nwifuru had earned another mandate through purposeful leadership and impactful governance. The endorsement was formally moved by Dr. Johnson Obinna Nwachukwu, seconded by Engr. Peter Onyemaechi Edeh, and adopted by voice vote.
Responding on behalf of the governor, Deputy Governor Patricia Obila thanked the people for the overwhelming support and assured them that the administration would build on its achievements and deliver more developmental projects across Ebonyi State if re-elected.
The rally climaxed with the presentation of an Award of Honour to Governor Nwifuru by Ishielu stakeholders amid songs, dances and chants by women, youths and APC supporters.
