Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has called on the people of Abakaliki Local Government Area to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the August 22, 2026 local government election.
Gov Nwifuru, represented by his Deputy Governor, Mrs Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, made the appeal on Monday at an APC campaign rally held at Nkwegu Primary School field, Abakaliki. She commended residents for their continued support for governor Nwifuru’s administration, praised the outgoing council chairman, Hon. Chidiebere Nwogba, for his performance, and presented the APC chairmanship candidate, Hon. Chidiebere Aloh, to the electorate.
The deputy governor urged APC supporters to mobilise across the 14 wards of the council and turn out en masse on election day, noting that their support would further strengthen the government’s development efforts at the grassroots.
Speaking at the rally, the incumbent Abakaliki Local Government Chairman, Hon. Chidiebere Nwogba, said the campaign formed part of the party’s wider mobilisation strategy ahead of the election. He expressed confidence that Alo and all APC councillorship candidates would emerge victorious, describing the large turnout as a clear indication of the party’s strength and popularity in the area.
On his part, the APC Chairmanship Candidate for Abakaliki LGA, Chidiebere Aloh, expressed profound gratitude to the electorate and party leaders, promising to build on the existing developmental foundation and drive sustainable grassroots progress if elected.
Others who spoke during the campaign rally included, Chairman of the occasion, Senator Sylvanus Nguji Ngele, Amb. Franklin Nchita Ogbuewu, Rt. Hon. Joseph Ununu, Dr. Mathew Uguru, Engr. Mbam Stanley Lebechi, Comrade Chinedu Emerike, and Hon. Mrs. Franca Okpo, among other prominent stakeholders, thanked Governor Nwifuru for his developmental projects in the area and pledged an overwhelming victory for the ruling party.
