Gives Charges To EBSIEC, Security Agencies

ABAKAKIKI -A House of Representatives contestant for Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, Aliuna Godwin, has urged the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC) and security agencies to ensure a free, fair and credible local government election in the state.

Aliuna, contesting under the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), made the call in a statement issued to newsmen in Abakaliki.

He charged EBSIEC to uphold transparency, impartiality and credibility, ensuring a level playing field for all candidates and parties.

He also urged security agencies to remain professional and neutral while protecting voters, electoral officials and other stakeholders.

The DLA candidate also appealed to political parties, candidates and supporters to remain peaceful and respect electoral rules.

He expressed hope that the August 22, 2026 election would allow Ebonyi people to freely elect their leaders.

Before venturing into politics, Aliuna was a seasoned print journalist and author of several books.
