The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi South Senatorial District has adopted Prof. Anthony Okorie Ani as its sole candidate for the 2027 general elections at the party’s primary election in the zone.

Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki shortly after the exercise, Prof. Ani said the massive turnout reflected the confidence constituents have in his representation since he assumed office on 13th February 2024.

“You can see the massive turnout. That shows you how our people love me,” he said. “They have shown solidarity, brotherliness, and they have shown that at all times, they will support me.”

The senator also described the APC as a party of order and unity where members speak with one voice on key issues maintaining that his focus in the Senate had been on legislative duties, such as moving motions and presenting bills in the Red Chamber.

Speaking on his achievements, Prof. Ani said he had facilitated employment for more than 40 constituents into federal agencies since assumption of office stressing that his office had carried out renovations of schools and health centres, and installed solar lights in several villages across the district. According to him, many other projects are at advanced stages and are expected to be completed and put to use by September.

On appointments, he said he had maintained a steady pace of securing opportunities for the people. “Since I entered on 13th February 2024, I have never stayed four months without securing one appointment or the other for my people,” he stated.

He urged constituents to sustain their support through prayer and trust. “My message is for you to continue to have hope, continue to have faith in me, trust my ability, and pray for me. Prayer is key to every success anyone enjoys in this life,” he said.

Also speaking at the voting center, Dr. Kama Nkemkanma, member representing Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo Federal Constituency, attributed the peaceful conduct of the exercise to the leadership ingenuity of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, noting that his approach had ensured order across the zone, and beyond.

Other party members described the adoption as a vote of confidence in Prof. Ani’s performance and expressed optimism that his re-election would consolidate ongoing development in Ebonyi South.
