APC Commiserates with Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki, Governor Nwifuru Over Bishop Chukwu’s Death
The Ebonyi State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the 3rd Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Nworie Chukwu, describing his passing as a painful loss to the Church and society.
In a statement issued by the State Chairman, Hon. Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, the party extended its condolences to the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki and the entire faithful, noting that the late cleric made remarkable contributions to spiritual growth, moral discipline, and community development during his lifetime.
“The Ebonyi State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) extends its heartfelt condolences to the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki and the entire faithful of the Church on the demise of His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Nworie Chukwu. His passing is a painful loss to the Church and society at large,” the statement read.
The party also commiserated with the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, describing him as “a devoted Catholic,” and extended sympathy to the government and people of the state over the loss.
“The late Bishop Chukwu was a revered servant of God whose life embodied humility, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the spiritual and moral upliftment of society,” Emegha stated.
APC further noted that Bishop Chukwu, who was installed in 2021, brought renewed hope, unity, and strong moral guidance to the Diocese through impactful teachings and dedicated pastoral service.
“At a time when society yearns for righteous leadership, the departure of such a shepherd is a profound loss not only to the Catholic Church but to Ebonyi State and the nation,” the statement added.
The party prayed for the repose of his soul and urged the Church and bereaved to remain comforted by his enduring legacy of faith, service, and love.
