 Asogwa Defeats Ezem of PDP

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the Enugu North Senatorial District bye-election, with its candidate, Ikeje Asogwa, securing a landslide victory at the polls.

Declaring the result at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Nsukka in the early hours of Sunday, the Returning Officer, Professor Christian Ezeibe, announced that Asogwa polled 162,360 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Nestor Ezeme, who garnered 9,299 votes.

The bye-election was conducted to fill the vacancy created by the death of Senator Okey Ezea, who represented Enugu North Senatorial District before his demise.

Seven political parties participated in the keenly contested election across the district. However, the APC candidate dominated the poll, winning by a wide margin to clinch the senatorial seat.

The outcome marks a significant political victory for the APC in the district as stakeholders and party supporters celebrate the result.
