Chairmen-elect in Ebonyi State have expressed appreciation to Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and the electorate following their victories in the just-concluded local government elections.
Hon. Ogbofia Ikechukwu, who secured a second term as Chairman of Onicha Local Government Area, thanked God, Governor Nwifuru and the people of the council for their support after he was declared winner by the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC).
Ogbofia spoke at the EBSIEC headquarters in Abakaliki on Sunday after the results were announced, describing his victory as overwhelming and pledging to consolidate his achievements in infrastructure, security and development.
The Onicha chairman-elect assured his constituents that he would not take their confidence for granted, promising to work harder to improve their welfare.
Also speaking, the Chairman-elect of Afikpo Local Government Area, Hon. Timothy Nwachi, attributed his re-election to God’s grace and the support of the people.
On the implications of the election for the 2027 general elections, the chairmen-elect said the large turnout recorded across polling units was a demonstration of the people’s confidence in the administration of Governor Nwifuru.
They pledged to justify the mandates given to them by the electorate and ensure that the confidence reposed in them translates into tangible development at the grassroots.
