Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has marked Nigeria’s 66th Independence and Ebonyi’s 30th anniversary, listing over 1,000km roads, two universities and the Abakaliki Cement Company among his administration’s achievements.

 

 

The Governor Nwifuru spoke on Thursday at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, during the celebration that witnessed mammoth crowd.

 

He said his administration had prioritised infrastructure, education, healthcare, human capital development and economic opportunities since assuming office in 2023.

 

The governor said the roads constructed across the 13 local government areas would improve connectivity, boost commerce and ease the transportation of agricultural produce.

 

He also disclosed that work was progressing on the Vanco Flyover and Tunnel project, while construction continued at the University of ICT and the University of Aeronautics and Aerospace Engineering.

 

He announced that work had commenced on the Abakaliki Cement Company, describing the project as a strategy to create jobs and expand the state’s industrial base.

 

On education, he said 39 model classroom blocks had been constructed, while the monthly subvention to Ebonyi State University had increased from N150 million to N280 million.

 

He added that the state had invested in healthcare infrastructure and insurance, with 394,387 encounter visits and 478,607 services recorded by the Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency between 2023 and 2026.

 

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to the N95,000 minimum wage and the clearance of pension and gratuity arrears, urging residents to sustain peace, unity and development.
