The Chairman of the National Assembly Primary Election Appeal Committee of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), in Ebonyi State, Hon. Abraham Odion, has disclosed that no petition was filed against the just-concluded House of Representatives primary election conducted by the party in the state, describing the exercise as peaceful, transparent and successful.
Odion made the disclosure on Sunday at the APC State Secretariat in Abakaliki, where the appeal committee sat for over eight hours to receive complaints or petitions from party members who might have been dissatisfied with the outcome of the primary election conducted across the 6 federal constituencies in the state.
According to him, despite the committee’s extended wait, no aggrieved aspirant or party member submitted any formal complaint for review. He explained that the absence of petitions was a strong indication of the level of acceptance and internal harmony within the party, adding that the leadership’s decision to adopt consensus arrangements in most constituencies helped to ensure a seamless and rancour-free process.
The primary election successfully produced candidates for the six federal constituencies in the state, including Dr. Nkemkanma Kama for Ohanivo Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Igariwey Iduma for Afikpo/Edda, Comrade Chinedu Ogah for Ezza South/Ikwo, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze for Ebonyi/Ohaukwu, Hon. Joseph Nwobasi for Ezza North/Ishielu, and Emmanuel Uguru for Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency.
Odion expressed optimism that the party would build on the success of the primary election to record overwhelming victories in the forthcoming general elections, urging members to remain united and committed to the ideals of the APC.
