Ahead of the 2027 governorship election, stakeholders of Izzi Clan in Ebonyi State have unanimously endorsed Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for a second term, because of his achievements in infrastructure, education and human capital development.
The endorsement was made on Saturday at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, during a gathering of political leaders, traditional stakeholders and party loyalists.
Moving the motion for the endorsement, Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi said Governor Nwifuru had distinguished himself through people-oriented policies and deserved another term in office.
According to him, the governor has constructed over 1,500 kilometres of concrete roads, expanded access to education and sponsored Ebonyi indigenes to study in foreign universities.
“Our son has done us proud in three years. He has performed beyond expectations and deserves another opportunity to consolidate on his achievements,” Nwebonyi said.
The senator also called on opposition members in Izzi to put aside political differences and support the governor, stressing that the unity and progress of the clan should take precedence over partisan interests.
He further solicited support for his second-term bid and for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election, citing ongoing federal infrastructure projects in the state as evidence of the administration’s commitment to the South-East.
Also speaking, APC National Treasurer, Chief Matthew Uguru, described the endorsement as a reward for good governance, saying Nwifuru’s performance had earned him the confidence of the people.
Ebonyi State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Stanley Mbam, said the governor had fulfilled a substantial part of his campaign promises through the implementation of the People’s Charter of Needs agenda.
Representatives of Izzi women and youths also pledged their support for Nwifuru’s re-election, describing his administration as inclusive and development-driven.
The event ended with a unanimous endorsement of Governor Nwifuru for a second term, alongside declarations of support for President Tinubu, Senator Nwebonyi, Hon. Emmanuel Uguru and other APC candidates in future elections.
