The people of Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo Local Government Areas, under the OHANIVO bloc, have pledged their total support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The people made the declaration during the OHANIVO New Yam Festival held at Oshiri Central School, Oshiri, where Governor Nwifuru assured the bloc of his administration’s continued partnership with its leaders to accelerate development across the area.
Nwifuru, who commended the people for their support for his administration, said the bloc remained central to the development agenda of the state.
“I will continue to work closely with the leaders of the bloc for accelerated development. The bloc occupies centre stage in the state’s development trajectory; as such, we will always churn out policies that will benefit them,” he said.
The governor also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for his support for Ebonyi State through federal projects and appointments, urging the people to sustain their support for the President’s administration.
“We thank Mr. President for his support to us as a state through projects and appointments. He gave us a Minister in charge of Works, first in our history as a state,” Nwifuru said.
He also commended the Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, and described him as a worthy son of the state.
“To our son, the Honourable Minister, we shall set aside a day to celebrate him because he has done the state proud,” he added.
He specifically assured the people that the remaining section of the Oshiri-Ugwulangwu Road would be completed upon the conclusion of arrangements with the Federal Ministry of Works.
Also speaking, the Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, expressed confidence in the political support of the people of OHANIVO and the Southern Senatorial District for Tinubu and Nwifuru in 2027.
“When the Governor is moving, I am moving with him. We have a pact with the President and the Governor to do eight years in office, and there is no going back on this pact,” Umahi declared.
He further commended Nwifuru’s leadership, saying, “We are grateful for the gift of Governor Nwifuru.”
In a motion moved by Chief Ifesinachi Odii and supported by Ogbuefi Enekwachi Akpa, the people of OHANIVO urged Governor Nwifuru not to be distracted by what they described as activities of political merchants.
They assured the governor of their continued support, stressing that equity, fairness and social justice remained the tripod upon which peace and sustainable development in Ebonyi State were anchored.
