Group Backs Tinubu’s Economic Reforms; Urges Nigerians to sustain progress

The South-East Movement for Tinubu 2027 has urged Nigerians to support and sustain the gains of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms.

Rising from its leadership meeting in Enugu, the group reaffirmed its commitment to mobilizing support for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

In a communiqué, the Interim National Chairman, Prof. Damian Opata, commended Tinubu’s “bold economic initiatives” and thanked Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for supporting the group’s inauguration.

Prof Opata called for unity among Nigerians to ensure the continued success of the administration’s economic policies.

Opata affirmed the group’s loyalty to the president and urged the opposition political parties to adopt what he described as “constructive and honest criticism of government’s policies”.

“We heartily thank Mbah, for the immense support he gave the movement. We do not take it for granted, he said.

“The opposition should be honest enough to acknowledge measurable improvements in economic indicators, including the easing of inflation and reduction in the prices of some commodities.”

Opata condemned what the group termed “partisan foreign commentary on Nigeria’s internal security challenges”, and called for respect for the country’s sovereignty and national dignity.

“Finally, we call on all Nigerians to rally support for the re-election of the president.

“His administration holds great promise for Nigeria and Nigerians.

“We urge the government to continue prioritising citizens’ welfare and national security,” he said.

Also contributing, the group’s BOT Chairman, Dr Sadic Okolie, said that an average Igbo man had been lagging behind politically, saying that “this is not the time they expect them to keep being alone”.

He urged the South-East to learn from the wisdom of the governors and join the moving train for their positions to be protected.

Okolie said that one needed to be in the middle and aline with the government at the center, build confidence and begin to enjoy what others are enjoying.

In his contribution, the Anambra Coordinator of the movement, Mr Tochi Amalu, pointed out that after their inauguration by the National Director General for Tinubu support groups on Nov. 4, they came together to kick start their planning ahead of 2027.

Amalu said that they wanted to prove everyone wrong that South-East was against Tinubu.

According to him, we are very much interested in national politics and success of Nigeria.
