…Welcomes National Leadership, others

ABAKALIKI — As Nigeria steadily advances toward the 2027 general elections, political activities are once again intensifying across the federation, with parties and stakeholders using the moment to reassess governance, mobilise support, and deepen democratic engagement.
In Ebonyi State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to stage a major political convergence on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, where party faithful, leaders and stakeholders will gather for the grand endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office.
The event, scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., is also expected to witness the formal inauguration of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, a mobilisation structure designed to deepen grassroots participation in the ideals and programmes of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Party leaders say the gathering represents a strategic moment in the political calendar, bringing together members of the APC family, elected and appointed officials, and supporters from across the country in what is expected to be a massive show of solidarity.
At the centre of the mobilisation effort is the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, whose leadership, according to party stakeholders, continues to strengthen unity within the ruling party and reinforce its national structure.
The Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, is also expected to play a prominent role in the event, which has been described as both symbolic and strategic in consolidating support for the federal administration.
Ebonyi State, often referred to as the “Salt of the Nation” and the “City of Francis,” is expected to host thousands of party faithful for the historic gathering, which organisers say will highlight key achievements of the Tinubu administration, particularly in economic reform, infrastructure development, agriculture, social investment, and security.
Since assuming office in May 2023, President Tinubu’s administration has introduced a series of sweeping reforms aimed at repositioning the Nigerian economy. Among the most notable is the removal of the petrol subsidy, a policy which government supporters say has freed up fiscal space for broader national development, despite initial economic adjustments.
Similarly, the unification of the foreign exchange market is being cited as a major step toward improving transparency in economic management, enhancing investor confidence, and increasing revenue allocation to subnational governments.
Other interventions highlighted by the APC include infrastructure expansion, student loan support through NELFUND, small and medium enterprise financing, agricultural support programmes, power sector reforms, and increased security funding aimed at addressing national challenges.
As preparations for the endorsement rally reach their peak, political actors within the party insist that the event goes beyond ceremonial endorsement. They describe it as a reaffirmation of confidence in the direction of national leadership and a call for continuity in governance.
Supporters of the administration argue that President Tinubu deserves a second term in office to consolidate ongoing reforms, strengthen economic recovery, expand infrastructure development, create employment opportunities, and ensure that the dividends of democracy reach all parts of the country.
According to them, sustaining the Renewed Hope Agenda is central to building a more stable, resilient and prosperous Nigeria.
The Ebonyi endorsement rally, therefore, is being positioned as a broader statement on democratic participation, national unity and political engagement as Nigeria moves closer to another electoral cycle.
In the words of the organisers, the message from Ebonyi is clear: consolidate gains, deepen reforms, and strengthen the foundations of national development.
The event is also expected to reinforce the role of civic participation in shaping governance outcomes and sustaining democratic institutions across the federation.
As political momentum builds nationwide ahead of 2027, Ebonyi’s APC gathering is seen as part of a wider effort to galvanize support structures and strengthen party cohesion.
Concluding the statement, the State Chairman of the APC in Ebonyi State, Hon. Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, emphasised the importance of unity and collective participation ahead of the event, saying:
“LET’S JOIN OUR GREAT LEADER AND FATHER, THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE, HIS EXCELLENCY, RT. HON FRANCIS OGBONNA NWIFURU TO MAKE THE OUTING A BENEFITING EVENT.”
The endorsement rally is expected to further energise party structures in the state and reaffirm commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda as Nigeria moves deeper into the 2027 political season.
