2027: Oppositions Move to Endorse Gov. Nwifuru, As Youths Donate N40m for Nomination Form
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, has revealed that opposition political parties in the state are considering endorsing Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for a second term ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election.
Emegha made this known when youth groups under the aegis of FON, drawn from the three senatorial zones of Ebonyi State, visited the APC State Secretariat and presented a cheque of N40 million as payment for the governor’s nomination form.
According to him, the gesture reflects growing support for the governor’s reelection bid, adding that several opposition party chairmen had also approached him in groups to express interest in backing Nwifuru.
While acknowledging the development, the APC chairman advised opposition leaders to strictly adhere to their respective party constitutions and guidelines, stressing that any endorsement must align with established legal provisions.
He further disclosed that many individuals had already purchased nomination forms on behalf of the governor.
Speaking during the event, the party Chairman, Chief Emegha said:
“The opposition parties are even working hard to ensure the governor returns. At a recent meeting, some suggested that all opposition parties unite and adopt the governor as the sole candidate for the next general election. I told them we must act within the provisions of the constitution. If, in their own conviction, they decide to support and adopt him, who are we as a party to object? Clearly, no serious contender is ready to challenge him.
When the idea of Governor Nwifuru first emerged, many doubted it would succeed or make such an impact. Few believed he would rise to this level or be a transformative leader. But today, the results speak for themselves. I am truly happy, and so are the entire party executives, that this progress is happening within our time as leaders.
We are encouraged by the growing support across groups who are urging him to contest again. Even as he remains calm and reserved, the people are speaking loudly on his behalf. Ebonyi youths, from every part of the state, are united in their call for him to continue his good work.
Looking at the crowd, I see sincerity, commitment, and determination. However, one thing is clear: the leadership entrusted to us must serve the collective interest, not personal gain. Everything will be done transparently and in alignment with the governor’s vision to avoid any conflict.
The peace being enjoyed in the state today is not by chance. It is a product of unity, understanding, and collaboration between the party, stakeholders, and the governor. This harmony sets us apart from many other states.
Let us remember, leadership is a collective journey. Today it may be one person; tomorrow it could be another. What matters is that whoever leads represents us all. The governor continues to consult widely, and no one should feel excluded.
Thank you purchasing the nomination form for the Governor. We are grateful.”

Earlier, some representative of the youths who presented the cheque of 40 Million Naira expressed satisfaction with the current administration of Governor Nwifuru and pledged continuous support.
