Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has continued to enjoy the backing of major political and socio-cultural blocs across the state, as thousands of people from Izzi Clan on Saturday unanimously endorsed him for a second term in office.
The endorsement, held at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, was anchored on what the people described as the governor’s impressive performance in infrastructure, education, empowerment, human capital development and other sectors of the state’s economy.
The rally attracted political leaders, traditional rulers, elected representatives, youth and women groups, and supporters from across Ebonyi State.
Chairman of the occasion and Principal Secretary to the Governor, Chief Matthias Adum, said the endorsement followed a careful assessment of Governor Nwifuru’s stewardship, noting that ongoing and completed projects across the state had earned him the confidence of the people.
The endorsement motion was moved by the Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District and Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, and seconded by the member representing Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Uguru. A voice vote conducted by Adum received overwhelming support, with no dissenting voice.
Declaring the motion carried, Adum announced that the people of Izzi had unanimously adopted Governor Nwifuru as their sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
Representing the governor, the Deputy Governor accepted the endorsement and expressed appreciation to the people for their confidence in the administration, describing Nwifuru as a leader committed to improving the welfare of citizens and advancing development across Ebonyi State.
She highlighted the administration’s achievements in education, infrastructure, empowerment and human capital development, urging the people to sustain their support to enable the governor consolidate on ongoing projects and programmes.
The Deputy Governor also conveyed Governor Nwifuru’s appreciation to the people of Izzi and the Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum for organising the rally, assuring them of the administration’s commitment to delivering more people-oriented projects and improved living standards for Ebonyi residents.
The event featured goodwill messages from political leaders, community stakeholders, youth and women groups, who commended the governor’s leadership and developmental strides.
