The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the June 20 Enugu North Senatorial District by-election, with three political parties cleared to participate.
The eligible parties and their candidates are: the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Ikeje Asogwa; the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Nestor Ezeme; and the BOOT Party (BP), Mr Chukwuebuka Aneke.
Speaking in Enugu on Saturday, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Chukwuemeka Chukwu, said only the three parties met the June 2 deadline for the submission of nomination forms and other required documents through the INEC Nomination Portal.
He said the commission had processed the nominations and published the candidates’ personal particulars and final list in line with the Electoral Act, 2026 (as amended).
Chukwu urged the public to inspect the candidates’ details at the INEC state headquarters in Enugu during official working hours and assured stakeholders of a transparent and credible electoral process.
The by-election will take place in 1,488 polling units across the six local government areas of Nsukka, Igbo-Eze North, Igbo-Eze South, Udenu, Igbo-Etiti, and Uzo-Uwani.
