The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested three suspected kidnappers and rescued an abducted victim during a special operation in Onuogba Nike Forest, Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The Enugu State Commandant, Dr. Elijah Willie, disclosed that the victim, a cattle dealer, was allegedly lured into the forest under the guise of purchasing livestock before being attacked, abducted and held for ransom by armed suspects.

He said NSCDC operatives launched a swift operation after receiving a distress call from the victim’s wife, leading to the victim’s rescue and the arrest of three suspects after several hours of tracking.
According to the commandant, the victim, who sustained machete injuries during the attack, is receiving medical treatment, while the suspects are assisting investigators to apprehend other members of the gang still at large.
Willie advised members of the public to buy livestock only from recognised markets and urged residents to provide security agencies with timely information to combat criminal activities. He also warned criminals that Enugu State would not be a safe haven for their operations.
