Foundation members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu North Senatorial District have appealed to Governor Peter Mbah to intervene in the alleged removal of some ward and local government executives elected during the party’s March 2026 congresses.
The group, under the aegis of G-30 Enugu North Senatorial Zone, made the appeal on Tuesday in a statement signed by Barr. Barth Ifeanyi Ugwoke, a former APC Director of Research, Strategy and Intelligence Matters.
They alleged that the affected executives were replaced without explanation, despite an arrangement to accommodate foundation APC members, former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party members in the state’s party structure.
The group urged Gov Mbah to investigate the circumstances surrounding the changes and restore the affected officers where no constitutionally recognised grounds for their removal exist.
“Where no valid resignation, disciplinary finding, anti-party activity or other constitutionally recognized ground exists, restore the duly elected executives to their respective positions.
“Direct that any future changes to elected party structures be made strictly in accordance with the APC Constitution and applicable party procedures.
“Encourage the State Party leadership to embrace consultation, fairness and inclusiveness in dealing with the foundation APC members whose commitment and sacrifices helped sustain the party before the recent political realignment.
“Proper integration of foundation members, devoid of lopsided appointments and preserving the Unity of the new APC,” it appealed.
The group said it welcomed Mbah and other former PDP leaders into the APC, believing that the political realignment would foster unity and inclusiveness.
They explained that the arrangement provided for 18 existing PDP executives at ward and local government levels to retain their positions, while foundation APC and former Labour Party members would occupy the remaining nine slots.
The group maintained that elected party offices should not be withdrawn arbitrarily, insisting that allegations of misconduct must be addressed through established disciplinary procedures that allow affected officers to respond.
