The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Ebonyi State Chapter, has embarked on a road walk across Abakaliki to sensitise residents on the forthcoming World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) 2026 scheduled to hold in Abuja.
The exercise, which formed part of the nationwide awareness campaign for the global public relations gathering, availed members opportunity to educate the public on the planned event.
Speaking during the exercise, Chairman of NIPR Ebonyi State Chapter, Dr Agatha Orji-Egwu, said the road walk was aimed at creating awareness about the international event and mobilising participation from Ebonyi and other parts of the country.
Orji-Egwu said the forum, themed, “Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World,” would provide an opportunity for communication professionals and global leaders to exchange ideas, network and advance the public relations profession.
She noted that the event would also help change negative perceptions about Nigeria by exposing international participants to the country’s people, culture and development potentials.
Similarly, a member of NIPR Ebonyi State Chapter, Comrade Oji Uzodinma, described public relations as vital to effective communication between governments, organisations and the people.
He urged governments, institutions and organisations to recognise the importance of public relations professionals in managing their communication responsibilities.
The World Public Relations Forum, organised by the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management in collaboration with NIPR, is expected to bring together public relations and communication professionals, academics, policymakers, industry leaders and other stakeholders from Nigeria and across the world.
