APC lauds Governor Nwifuru’s welfare policies as Ebonyi marks Workers’ Day
The Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has showered praises on Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru over what it described as unprecedented reforms in the state civil service.
In a statement, the State party Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha said Nwifuru’s administration has repositioned the workforce through policies aimed at boosting welfare, efficiency and service delivery.
The party noted that the recruitment of about 4,000 Ebonyians into the civil service has helped to strengthen the system, while over 8,000 workers and their dependents have been enrolled into the State Health Insurance Scheme, giving them access to healthcare services.
APC further commended the governor for approving a significant salary increase for medical doctors in the primary healthcare system, raising their earnings from ₦150,000 to ₦500,000, as well as providing them with official vehicles to enhance service delivery.
It added that the introduction of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses has reduced the burden of transportation on civil servants across the state.
The statement also highlighted the clearance of gratuity arrears dating back to 1996 and the prompt payment of retirement benefits as major milestones that have restored workers’ confidence in government.
According to the party, the continued payment of festival bonuses and salary adjustments, despite prevailing economic challenges, underscores the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare.
While congratulating workers on the occasion of May Day, the APC urged them to remain committed and supportive of the governor’s development agenda anchored on the People’s Charter of Needs.
