Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag to the party’s chairmanship candidate for Ezza South Local Government Area, Barr. Chinedu Mkpuma, ahead of the August 22, 2026 council election.
The flag was presented on the governor’s behalf by the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, at a campaign rally in Onueke.
Speaking at the rally, Obila expressed confidence that the APC would win the election and urged party members to remain united, intensify ward campaigns and mobilise voters. She also commended the outgoing council chairman, Chief Mrs. Euphemia Nwali, for her developmental achievements.
The Ebonyi State APC Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, called on members to remain committed to the party, and described Governor Nwifuru as a focused leader. He urged supporters not to allow any political group to weaken the APC in the area.
Receiving the party flag, Mkpuma thanked Governor Nwifuru, the APC leadership and the people of Ezza South for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged inclusive leadership, improved security, sustained development and peaceful coexistence across the council.
He described Ezza South as an APC stronghold and expressed confidence that the area would deliver overwhelming votes for the party in both the August 22 council election and the 2027 general election.
Also speaking, the Immediate Past Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government and South-East Representative in FEMA, Dr. Kenneth Igwe Ugbala, said the rally was held in line with the guidelines of the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC) to formally present the party’s candidates to the electorate. He expressed confidence that the APC’s grassroots support would guarantee victory at the polls.
The rally attracted party leaders, government officials, traditional rulers and thousands of APC supporters from the 11 wards of Ezza South Local Government Area.
