The Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC) has presented Certificates of Return to newly elected and re-elected chairmen, vice chairmen and councillors following the successful conduct of the August 2026 local government elections in the state.
The presentation took place at the commission’s headquarters in Abakaliki and attracted families and well-wishers of the elected officials.
The EBSIEC Chairman said the election recorded an impressive voter turnout of over 80 per cent, while commending all participating political parties, including the ADC, Labour Party and APC, for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the process.
While commending Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for providing logistics and giving the commission a free hand to operate, Enyi also praised other critical stakeholders for their respective roles in ensuring the success of the election.
Among others, Mrs Helen Nnenna Aduga of Izzi Local Government Area and Comrade Paul Eze Ituma pledged to provide quality leadership and align their administrations with Governor Nwifuru’s “People’s Charter of Needs” agenda.
