Minister of Works, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, said an eight-year presidential tenure under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is in the political interest of the South-East, and urged residents of the region to support his re-election in 2027.
Umahi said the South-East needed to sustain its relationship with the Federal Government to strengthen its chances of producing Nigeria’s president when it becomes the region’s turn.
He made the remarks on Monday while addressing a Town Hall Meeting for Abakaliki urban wards, organised by the APC Presidential Campaign Council’s Directorate of Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitization at Osborn La Palm Hotels and Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki.
The Minister urged the people to shun political sentiments and sustain their support for the President, arguing that continuity would enable the administration to consolidate its programmes and interventions in the region.
At the meeting, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), South-East, Abakaliki urban residents and religious leaders in Ebonyi State endorsed Tinubu and Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for re-election in 2027, pledging to mobilise support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Earlier, President of the Christian Fellowship of Nigeria (CFN), South-East, Rev. Fr. Abraham Nwali, commended Tinubu for his administration’s infrastructural interventions in the South-East, urging residents to reciprocate by supporting his second-term ambition.
Representing the Ebonyi State Government, the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Onah, alongside other stakeholders, declared support for APC candidates and pledged to mobilise their members and communities ahead of the 2027 elections.
Also speaking, Barr. Chioma Nweze, Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi and other stakeholders called for continued support for the APC, highlighting the achievements of its administrations.
