Political stakeholders in Ebonyi State have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for re-election in 2027, and pledged to mobilise grassroots support for the APC across the state and South-East.
The endorsement was announced at a town hall meeting organised by the Ebonyi State chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement at the Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki. The meeting was convened by the Senior Special Adviser to the President on South-East Engagement, Barr. Chioma Nweze.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, urged South-East residents to prioritise strategic political participation over sentiments, stressing that low voter turnout had weakened the region’s influence in national politics.
He highlighted ongoing Federal Government projects in the region and called on the people to assess the administration based on its activities.
Earlier, the convened of the meeting Barr. Nweze expressed concern over voter apathy in the South-East, urging political leaders, traditional institutions and community stakeholders to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Ebonyi CAN Chairman, Rev. Dr. Stan Nwokolo, pledged continued partnership between religious institutions, the Federal and state government, while traditional ruler of Nkaleke Echara Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Sunday N. Oketa, and other stakeholders also declared support for the administrations.
The endorsement motion was moved by former Senate President, Senator Julius Ali Ucha, seconded by Senator Anthony Agbo and adopted through a voice vote presided over by Umahi.
The meeting attracted serving and former public office holders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society organisations and community representatives, who pledged commitment to mobilising support for Tinubu, Nwifuru and other APC candidates in 2027.
