The Enugu State Government has warned residents to comply fully with the June statewide monthly environmental sanitation exercise, stressing that anyone found violating sanitation regulations will face legal sanctions.
The Managing Director of the Enugu State Waste Management Authority (ESWAMA), Mr. Richard Onaga, gave the warning on Friday while announcing that the sanitation exercise would hold on Saturday, June 27, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. He said the Environmental Sanitation Mobile Court would be on ground to prosecute offenders.
Onaga said that ESWAMA was informing residents of the state that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise would hold on Saturday.
During the exercise, movement will be restricted across the state, with only essential duty personnel and those with valid identification or official permits exempted.
Residents are expected to clean their homes, business premises, drainage channels and surrounding environment, while commercial activities, sporting events and loading or off-loading operations at motor parks will remain suspended.
Onaga also reminded residents and business owners that payment of the 2026 Environmental Sanitation Rate is ongoing at designated banks and the ESWAMA Headquarters, No. 7 Ridgeway, State Secretariat, GRA, Enugu.
