Afia Media has unveiled its maiden Annual Lecture and Awards to promote dialogue on the development of the South-East.
Speaking at the unveiling in Enugu on Thursday, the Chief Executive Officer, Emeka Mbah, said the initiative, themed “Uwa Bu Afia: Trading Ideas for Development,” would bring together government officials, business leaders, academics, innovators and development partners to discuss the region’s future.
Mbah described the South-East as one of Nigeria’s most entrepreneurial regions, noting that the platform would encourage policy dialogue and celebrate excellence. He added that Afia TV is the only South-East-focused broadcaster on DStv and GOtv.
Also speaking, Director of Afia Media, Ijeoma Ezeasor, urged the region to tell its own story in the age of artificial intelligence and digital technology, warning that failure to do so would allow others to shape its identity.
She said the event would feature an annual lecture and an awards gala to honour individuals who have contributed to the development of the South-East and Nigeria. Organisers expect over 1,000 participants, with live coverage on Afia TV, Afia 99.3 FM Enugu and digital platforms.
