Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 Campaign Council, charging its members to mobilise support and ensure the party’s victory in the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at Remeritona Hotel on Saturday, Nwifuru expressed confidence that his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, human capital development and other critical sectors would earn the APC massive support from the electorate.
The governor said his administration had fulfilled 98 per cent of the promises made to the people under the People’s Charter of Needs Agenda, introduced in 2023.
He recalled that the administration had upgraded the College of Education to a university, improved educational infrastructure, constructed faculty buildings and procured laptops to enhance digital literacy among students.
He also highlighted interventions in agriculture, including the rehabilitation of the Hatchery farm, procurement of tractors and other agricultural equipment to promote mechanised farming.
Other achievements, according to him, included improved ease of doing business, clearance of pension and gratuity arrears, regular staff promotions, establishment of an ICT University, improved security and environmental sanitation.
Nwifuru further listed investments in youth and sports development, culture and tourism, efforts to address housing deficits, improved energy supply in Afikpo and other local government areas, as well as the reactivation of the Ebonyi International Airport.
The governor charged the newly inaugurated council, organised into various directorates covering finance, security, advisory services, media, works, infrastructure, youth and women mobilisation, to work towards securing victory for the APC at the polls.
Earlier, the APC State Chairman, Hon. Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, urged members of the council to discharge their responsibilities with commitment and dedication.
Emegha also declared that, in the interest of equity and fairness, no Ebonyian was morally obligated to challenge the incumbent governor in the 2027 governorship election.
Former Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Greece, Ambassador Frank Nchita Ogbuewu, was named Director-General of the campaign council, with deputy directors appointed across the state’s three senatorial districts.
