…Directs Immediate Access on Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Highway

The Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi, has ordered the immediate opening of all accessible portions of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Road to facilitate smoother movement of commuters ahead of the Eid al-Adha celebrations.
The directive, issued through a statement from the Office of the Honourable Minister of Works, was addressed to the contractor handling the road project, Infiouest Nigeria Limited, as part of measures aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving travel conditions along the major highway corridor.
Umahi said the decision was prompted by the anticipated surge in vehicular movement during the festive season, noting that the Federal Government was committed to ensuring safer, faster and more convenient journeys for motorists and other road users.
According to the minister, the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Road, which links the Federal Capital Territory with several Northern states, remains a critical transport route for commercial and passenger activities across the country.
He also revealed that an earlier accident recorded along the highway had been fully cleared, assuring travelers that normal traffic flow had resumed on the affected section of the road.
To strengthen security during the celebration period, Umahi hinted that security personnel had been strategically deployed along the corridor to maintain order and safeguard commuters using the route.
The minister emphasized that the government’s intervention was designed not only to address the expected increase in holiday travel but also to enhance public safety during one of the country’s busiest festive periods.
“The Federal Government, he added, remains committed to upgrading road infrastructure nationwide while prioritizing the comfort, safety and mobility of Nigerians during major celebrations”.
