…Insists on Achievements
By Abraham Ovuoba

Deputy Chief Whip and Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone, Barrister Onyekachi Nwebonyi, has dismissed reports of division within the Izzi clan over political office sharing, describing them as misleading and baseless.

Senator Nwebonyi spoke on Sunday at Centenary City, Abakaliki, while addressing journalists after the three-year in-office thanksgiving Mass Celebration of Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, held at the Government House Chapel.

He stated that the Izzi people have moved beyond clannish rivalry and vendetta, insisting that his record of service leaves him without a political rival in the zone. Nwebonyi cited the attraction of over 400 kilometres of federal roads, construction of 10 kilometres of concrete roads, scholarships for more than 500 students, and empowerment of over 10,000 farmers as key achievements.

“I have set standards in representation in Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone. I have not seen anybody capable of challenging me, not because of power, but because of achievements,” he said.

Nwebonyi further argued that the Senate should be occupied by individuals with proven records and intellectual capacity, stressing that politics is not an avenue for making money.

While predicting total victory for the APC in future elections, the lawmaker also commended President Bola Tinubu and Governor Nwifuru for visible developmental strides in Ebonyi State, especially in road infrastructure linking the Southeast to other regions of the country.

According to him, the emergence of Governor Nwifuru from Igboejima and himself from Unwuera does not reflect disparity within the clan but rather demonstrates unity and political inclusiveness among the Izzi people.
